I’m in complete shock and sick to my stomach for those working at Rainbow Foods that weren’t bought out by another company. I was told that because they are union, they should get a 60 days notice before closing. So we were all thinking Sept 15th or later.
I just was told that Rainbow stores that haven’t been sold will be closing on July 22nd at the end of the day. I was told by two different people at two different stores so I am kinda assuming that this affects the rest of the Rainbow stores not sold.
This is WAY sooner than anyone expected. I know when I heard that my Rainbow Foods store was not bought, I was so upset for the employees that worked there. I told many of them to start looking for a new job now, just in case something like this happened.
Thankfully, many of them did get jobs with the stores that got bought out and the staff at my store got smaller….but there are still so many great employees there that haven’t gotten jobs.
Please, when you go to your local Rainbow Foods store, if they are ones that are now closing for good on July 22nd, let them know how much their service has meant to you. I know that I am going to try and make something to bring in to say thank you for all of their years of “service” to me and for making me feel welcomed when I shop there.
So…the only good news is that things will be clearancing out / going on sale. Not sure if they will follow the 2 or 3 day rule with the 50% off Fresh Fruit / Meat sale before they close, but I am kinda thinking they have to…what else would they do with it?
Expect shelves emptier. Things missing. Fewer employees. If something isn’t there, don’t take it out on the employees…they are having a hard enough time processing this new news.
